Graft: Ex-college principal, cashier sued in Habiganj

The Anti-Corruption Commission today sued former principal of Brindaban Government College in Habiganj and its cashier for embezzling Tk around two crore.

ACC’s Deputy Director Malay Kumar Saha filed the case with Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station.

According to the case statement, Bijit Kumar Bhattachariya, who is now discharging his duties as head of chemistry department in Comilla Victoria Government College, in collusion with cashier Md Babul Mia embezzled the money from the students of his previous college in different phases between 2009 and 2015.

The accused did not deposit the money into the college bank accounts and did not maintain any record of the money, it said.
