Health minister pledges to curb corruption in health services
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik today pledged to curb corruption and nepotism and help improve quality of health services.
“For this to happen, surveillance and monitoring on the operations of health services will be government’s primary tool,” he said while exchanging views with the doctors, nurses and officials at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the city.
“Doctors, nurses and officials have to keep in mind that people go to the hospitals when they are in trouble. It is the responsibility of all to serve them with smile,” Zahid Malik said.
The minister said people have elected the government with great expectations.
“All have to work from their own positions to meet the expectations and improve healthcare quality,” he said.
Zahid Malik urged all to ensure that the patients don’t face harassment in the hospital.
Dr Md Murad Hasan, state minister for health, and Prof Abul Kalam Azad, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, were present among others.
The minister also visited the National Institute of Kidney Diseases and Urology and the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
