HC seeks reports on unfit vehicles from BRTA
The High Court today asked Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to submit a report before it on the unfit vehicles plying the streets across the country and drivers without valid license.
BRTA will have to submit the report before the HC by April 30.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order on a suo moto (voluntary) move following a report published on The Daily Star on March 23 under a headline “No fitness docs, yet running”
The bench asked Mahbubey Rabbani, director (Road Safety) of the BRTA, to give his comment about unfit vehicles before it on April 30.
The High Court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain why their failure to stop running of unfit vehicles should not be declared illegal.
