Housing project for 150 landless families in Bogra
Houses for 150 landless families will be built under a government-run housing project named Hashraj Housing Project on 13 acres of land of the 54-acre Shatbila water body (beel) under Modhupur union of Sonatola upazila in Bogra district.
A project source said land filling has already been completed and the barracks-style accommodation will be built under the supervision of the army.
The source also said that a school, sanitation, tube well, mosque and multi-media centre will be included in the project.
352 metric tonnes of wheat have been allocated so far for the project from the Prime Minister's Office, he added.
A consortium of businessmen will cultivate fish in the water-body along with vegetables on the area's vacant land.
Nazrul Islam Badal, chairman of the project and also Modhupur Union Parishad, said the project will shelter around 500 people from 150 families, prevent land-grabbing, as well as ensure livelihoods for the area's unemployed fishermen.
