Injured Moulvibazar elephant dies

The pet elephant which was thrown off a truck in Moulvibazar of Srimangal seven days ago died today reportedly due to poor treatment.

“We tried to give her necessary treatment but our attempts failed due lack of diagnostic equipments including X-ray machine,” said Dr Ariful Islam, vet of Srimangal livestock department.

“If we had X-ray facility here, we could have properly ascertained her injuries and initiate proper treatment from the beginning,” our local correspondent quotes him as saying.

Rajlaxmi, was rented to a circus party in Brahmanbaria and was severely injured while it was being transported back to Srimangal on July 14.

Her waist and right leg got severely injured after she fell down from truck, Ariful added.
