Jubo League activist hacked to death in Noakhali

A local Jubo League activist was hacked to death by miscreants at Showani Togba village in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali today morning.

The deceased was identified as Akhtar Hossain Swapan, an activist of Chatkhil municipality unit Jubo League, son of Siddique Ullah, a resident of the village.

Family sources said a group of miscreants numbering 4/5 swooped on Swapan and stabbed him indiscriminately while he was sleeping at home around 11:00am, leaving him critically injured.

Later locals rescued him and sent him to Chatkhil upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Victim’s family claims a group of local Jubo League is responsible for the killing.

Officer-in-charge of Chatkhil Police Station, Mohammad Nashim Uddin said on information, police recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

It is not clear who are responsible for the killing, the OC added.
