Former Khulna university professor killed under train
A former professor of Khulna University died under a train as he was trying to get on the moving carriage at Khulna Railway Station this morning.
The deceased, Prof Mizanur Rahman (65), was a teacher of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment at the University of Khulna. He retired from his post one month ago, our local correspondent reports quoting SM Atiya Rahman, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university.
A group of teachers from the university were headed to Benapole today in order to see flower cultivation there, said the PRO.
Mizanur Rahman tried to catch the running Khulna-Benapole commuter train around 6:15am as he was late to arrive at the station, said station manager Manik Chandra Sarkar.
The severely injured former professor was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, the station manager added.
