Four of a family killed in lightning strikes

Four members including two minors of a family were killed when lightning struck them at Boro Station area in Chandpur today.

The deceased were identified as Waheda Begum, 65, her daughter Rehena Begum, 35, grandchildren Sabbir, 14 and Samiya 10, reports a correspondent from Chandpur.

They along with three other members of the family came to Chandpur to visit the estuary of Meghna river from Koiran area in Chandina of Cumilla.

They were killed on the spot when a thunderbolt struck them around 1.00 pm during drizzling, said Shahida Begum, another daughter of deceased Waheda.  

The bodies were kept at Chandpur General Hospital, said Nasim Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandpur Model Police Station.
