Local body polls under party banner unrealistic: BNP
BNP today alleged that the government has decided to hold the local body polls under party banner in December and January only to avoid the demand of national polls.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office, BNP spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon also criticised the provision of local body polls under party banner, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
“In the present political context of Bangladesh, local body polls under party banner is not realistic,” Ripon said.
“We demanded for a national polls and the government is arranging polls under party banner as eyewash.”
Meanwhile, the BNP spokesperson also lambasted the Election Commission, saying: “It is not possible for current Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed to hold free and fair polls. The current administration does not even have the ability to safe guard the polling centres.”
