Magura-1 by-election May 30

The by-election to Magura-1 constituency will be held on May 30, Election Commission (EC) announced today.

According to the schedule, the last date for filing nomination is April 30, scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on May 4 and the deadline for withdrawing candidacy is May 12.

EC's Secretary Sirazul Islam announced the schedule at the EC's media centre this afternoon.

The constituency fell vacant following the death of Awami League lawmaker Prof MS Akbar on March 9.
