Man commits suicide after killing college student in Kushtia
A young man committed suicide to escape locals’ wrath just after he stabbed dead a college student in Kushtia Sadar upazila this morning.
Palash Hossain, 22, son of Mintu Sheikh of Haripur village in the upazila, hanged himself at his grandmother’s house around 10:40am, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
Earlier, Palash stabbed Sujan Mahmud, 18, on way to home from Islamia College in the town around 9:30am.
Locals took Sujan to the Kushtia General Hospital but doctors declared him dead, Joynal Abedin, additional superintendent of police in Kushtia, told the correspondent.
According to the locals and police, Palash started running after being chased by locals when he made the attack on Sujan, son of Mohammad Hossain.
Palash ran and entered his grandmother Haripur house adjacent to the spot, and locked the door from inside, police said quoting locals.
When the death news spread around 10:00am, locals encircled the house to catch Palash.
Informed, police rushed there and fired rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving three villagers injured.
Later, the law enforcers broke open the door and found the body of Palash hanging from a ceiling fan, police said.
Reason behind the attack on Sujan could not be known immediately.
