Man killed in Narayanganj clash

A man has been beaten to death in a clash this afternoon following altercation over repaying Tk 800 as a loan in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj.

The deceased was identified as Abu Taleb Mia, 55, of Baliapara village of the upazila, reports Narayanganj correspondent.

The clashed ensued in Baliapara village of Mahmudpur union after Taleb’s daughter Selina asked her neighbour Sohel, son of Ruku Mia for the money she lent him as loan, said Md Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station.

At one stage, the supporters of Sohel beat Taleb and his associates, leaving six of them including Taleb seriously wounded, the police official said.

He was pronounced dead at the upazila health complex, and additional police has been deployed to avert further untoward situation, he added.
