‘Mugger’ killed in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’
An alleged mugger was killed in a "gunfight” with law enforcers in Naumahal area of Mymensingh town today.
The incident took place when he was fleeing after stabbing Mofazzol Hossain Milon, an official of ACI pharmaceutical company, in the area.
The alleged mugger is Nitul, 28, hailing from Banshbari Colony of Mymensingh town, confirmed Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police reached Naumahal area where Nitul attacked Mofazzol Hossain Milon with a sharp weapon, said OC Md Ashiqur Rahman of DB.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Nitul opened fire on police, triggering a gunfight between them.
The gunfight, however, left Nitul dead on the spot and one constable injured, OC Ashiqur Rahman said.
Later, critically injured Mofazzol and the constable were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), where the doctors declared Mofazzol dead.
