Murder accused killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’
An accused of a murder case was killed in a “gunfight” with police in Kushtia Sadar upazila early today.
Deceased Enamul Haq, 33, son of Mostofa Ali of Shibpur village was the prime accused in a case filed for abducting and killing college student Sagar Saha.
An HSC student of Khater Ali College, Sagar, 19, son of Pradeep Saha of Harinarayanpur village in Sadar upazila, was abducted on Wednesday.
After Sagar’s body was recovered from an abandoned toilet of Harinarayanpur on Saturday, police arrested Enamul, officer-in-charge (OC) of Islamic University (IU) Police Station Ratan Seikh told our local correspondent.
Based on information given by Enamul, local police and detectives went to Shibpur village along with him to nab one of his accomplices named Shipon.
“On the way, the police teams came under the attack around 4:00pm. A gunfight ensued when police fired back”, the OC said.
“Enamul was shot when he tried to escape from the police van and died on the spot,” OC added.
