2 primary schools gutted in Manikganj fire

Two non-government primary schools were gutted as a fire ripped through the establishments in Manikganj this noon.

The fire broke out at Shishu Kalyan Primary School and Poura Krira Shikkha Protishthan at around 12:00pm, our local correspondent reports quoting Md Mizanur Rahman, deputy assistant director of Manikganj Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, three units of fire service reached the spot and brought the fire under control after an hour of frantic effort, the official said.

Ten classrooms, furniture, and other educational tools of the schools were burned to ashes.

“The fire might have originated from electric short circuit,” he added.

The damage caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately.
