2 rape accused still at large

Police are yet to arrest two youths accused in an alleged rape attempt case in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district, five days into the incident.

The alleged rapists are Abul Kashem, 18, son of Farid Munshi; and Sohel Mia, 20, son of Muzlu Mia of Boiragir Char in Katiadi.

Quoting the case statement, Officer-in-Charge of Katiadi Police Station SM Shahadat Hossain said Kashem, a tenth grader and his accomplices Sohel, both neighbours of the girl, 13, an eighth grader, waylaid her on way home from her uncle's house on Wednesday evening.

Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her but the accused managed to flee the scene, said the OC.

The victim's father lodged a case with Katiadi Police Station on Thursday night accusing Kashem and Sohel, the OC said.

They visited the spot after the incident, he said.

Police drives are on to arrest the accused, added the official.
