Road crashes kill five

Five people were killed and two others injured in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Chandpur, three CNG-run auto-rickshaw passengers were killed and two others injured when it was hit by an unknown vehicle in Bakila on Chandpur-Cumilla highway.

Alem Hossain, 45, Abu Sufian, 40, and Akram Hossain, 22, died instantly, said police.

The injured were admitted to Chandpur Government General Hospital.

In another accident, a woman crossing the road was hit by a bus on the same highway in Dherra of Hajiganj.

Fatema Begum, 70, died at Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex, said police.

In Netrakona, a woman was killed as an auto-rickshaw hit her while she was crossing a road in Baloi Bridge area of Madan upazila.

Hafsa Khatun, 45, was declared dead at Madan Upazila Health Complex.
