3 JU students suspended
The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have suspended its three first-year students for their alleged involvement in carrying out an attack on their fellow students on the university campus.
The suspended students are Sowan of drama and dramatics department, Mahid of archaeology department and Ahsanuzzaman Sawon of marketing department, our JU correspondent reports quoting Rahima Kaniz, acting registrar of the university.
The three students, who are residents of Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, reportedly beat up some students on the campus on January 9 centering observance of birthday party of one of a female students.
Based on the allegation, the JU authority, at a syndicate meeting last night, took the decision as per recommendation of the university disciplinary committee, Rahima Kaniz said.
Headed by Prof. Shafi Md. Tareq of Environmental Sciences department, a four-member probe body was also formed for further enquiry into the matter, she said.
