Around 84 per cent out of total 49,999 patients, who have been admitted to hospitals across the country, have returned home after recovery.

A total of 42,243 patients infected with the mosquito-borne disease have left hospitals so far, according to a release of Health Crisis Management and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It said that a total of 49,999 patients were diagnosed with dengue in different hospitals throughout the country from January 1 to August 16, this year. However, 40 people died from the disease.

A total of 7,716 patients are currently receiving treatment at clinics and hospitals across the country. Of them, 4,015 are undergoing treatment across Dhaka division.

A total of 1,719 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in the last 24 hours.
