A Bangladeshi national was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near pillar No 902 at  Bhutiamongal border in Hatibandha upazila of the district yesterday morning.

The injured is Zahurul Islam, 29, son of Dhanor Uddin of Bhutiamongal village.

Locals rescued Zahurul and took him to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex. Doctors of the health complex later referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official said.

A flag meeting between BGB and BSF was held on the border where BGB protested against the shooting of Zahurul, he added.
