BCL man expelled from JnU for assaulting female teacher

Jagannath University authorities today expelled a student on charges of sexually assaulting a female teacher of the university.

Aroj Miah was a student of Islamic history and culture and also an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling Awami League.

Prof Mizanur Rahman, vice-chancellor of the university, said Aroj was expelled in line with a High Court order and the recommendation of the Women Repression Prevention Committee of the university.

Aroj was handed over to Kotwali police around 2:00pm on April 26. However, the law enforcers allegedly released him hours later.

In the case statement, the victim who is a lecturer of the department of public administration has alleged that Aroj blocked her way near the university mosque and at one point he pushed her, pulled her cloth and slapped her.

"I also slapped him, held him by the shirt collar and took him to the proctor's office," the teacher mentioned in the statement.
