Biman flight makes emergency landing at Ctg airport
A Dhaka-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Singapore made an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram this evening as the pilot suspected “technical fault” in one of the two engines of the aircraft.
“The Biman flight BG-085 was scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 6:30pm, however, it made an emergency landing in Chattogram around 5:50pm,” said Khairul Kabir, acting manager of the airport.
“The pilot of the aircraft suddenly suspected that there was some technical fault in one of the two engines of the plane and informed it to the control room of the Chattogram airport,” he said, adding that the aircraft was carrying 99 passengers.
“The aircraft made the emergency landing safely. All emergency steps were taken in this regard, including keeping the fire brigades ready.”
Shakil Meraj, general manager (public relation) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, told The Daily Star that they have sent an alternative aircraft from Dhaka for taking back the passengers.
