Biman suspends Bangkok route; losses rise to Tk 300 crore
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has temporarily suspended its flights on Bangkok route from today.
Tahera Khandaker, deputy general manager (public relations) of the national flag carrier, told this to journalists in a WhatsApp message.
With Bangkok route, the airliner was forced to suspend its flights on 15 of total 17 international destinations following the global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The national flag carrier has so far incurred a loss of around Tk 300 crore in the last one and half month, sources in Biman said.
Biman is now operating its flights on only two destinations -- London and Manchester.
Earlier, Biman temporarily suspended its flights on Riyadh, Jeddah, Madina, Dammam, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Kathmandu, Kolkata and Delhi routes.
