BSF guns down Bangladeshi on Naogaon frontier

A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Adatala border point in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon early Saturday.


The deceased Joynal Abedin, 40, a cattle trader by profession is son of Sohrab Hossain, a resident of South Patari village of the upazila.
Witness said BSF members from Rangamati camp opened fire at a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders, including Joynal, while they were returning home from India with cattle around 5:30am, leaving Joynal dead on the spot.
Lieutenant Colonel Rafiqul Hasan, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-14, confirmed the incident.
BGB authorities sent a letter to BSF for holding a flag meeting for returning the Bangladeshi national's body, Lt Col Rafiqul said.
