Cobbler from Rangpur donates Tk 20,000 to PM's Relief and Welfare Fund
A cobbler in Rangpur today donated Tk 20,000 to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to help combat the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
Milon Robi Das (37), hailing from Abdullahpur village in Mithapukur upazila of the district, handed over the money to Mithapukur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamun Bhuiyan today afternoon.
The man took the initiative to stand by helpless people during the countrywide shutdown to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country, reports our Dinajpur correspondent
Milon completed his lessons till the fifth grade and dropped out of school due to a lack of money. He took up his father's profession as a cobbler after his father died 20 years earlier.
Talking to our correspondent, Milon said he donated Tk 20,000 to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund as he wants to do something for the country during a time of national crisis.
The man further said he had saved the money for a long time from what he earned by sewing people's shoes and sandals.
