Agami Education Foundation (AEF) came to the aid of thousands of under-privileged children and their families affected by joblessness and suspension of businesses during the coronavirus pandemic through food and relief distribution, said a statement issued by the organisation today.

The charity has reached more than 3000 families and directly impacted the lives of 16,000 people with survival packs in 13 Agami-supported schools in Dhaka, Gazipur, Sylhet, Habiganj, Cumilla, Chattogram, Rangamati and Jhenidah, said a statement issued by AEF General Manager Somiron Gregory.

AEF, a sister concern of USA based non-profit organization Agami Incorporated -- formed and run by Bangladesh-born Americans -- has been working in Bangladesh since 2003 to promote quality education among under-privileged children.

The schools are closed now due to the pandemic, but AEF raised funds for the children and their families, said the statement. It also supported the teachers of these schools with the same survival packs.

Apart from food distribution, the organization has also set up a hotline number in collaboration with Bangladesh Doctors Platform through which students and their parents can get coronavirus related advice. On regular basis, it organises different health camps in these schools for the wellbeing of the students.

AEF said it continues the fundraising campaign and details can be found at www.agami.org and https://www.facebook.com/agami.org/.

The organisation thanked all the kindhearted people who donated for the cause, while also urging all affluent members of society to come forward and help the initiative.
