Mobile court comes under attack in Jashore; 2 Ansar members hurt
A mobile court came under attack in Monirampur upazila of Jashore last night while conducting a drive to enforce health guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus infections.
Two Ansar members were injured in the attack, said Monirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Sufol Chandra Goldar, who led the drive.
The UNO said the mobile court went to Jaljhara area in the upazila around 8:30pm to make people aware about the coronavirus pandemic and enforce health guidelines in the area.
A group of 200 people, equipped with homemade weapons, swooped on the mobile court, once the vehicle carrying the court team reached in front of Jaljhara Madrasa, said the magistrate.
The team left the place, fearing more danger, said the UNO.
But, two Ansar members -- Billal and Sagor --were injured as they fell from the vehicle and came under attack by the miscreants, he said.
However, the UNO escaped unhurt from the attack, reports our Beanpole correspondent.
Abul Hossain Mona, company commandeer of upazila Ansar, said the injured Ansar members were admitted to the upazila health complex.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, said they will take legal action after a case was filed in this connection. None was arrested yet, he said.
