College girl ‘gang-raped’ in Manikganj

A female college student has been allegedly gang-raped by seven men in Singair upazila of Manikganj.

The incident took place at late night on Friday when the girl’s lover, a college student from neighbouring Harirampur upazila, went to meet her in Singair, reports our Manikganj correspondent quoting police.

When he reached there, the seven culprits, who are allegedly local goons, intercepted and tied him up, took his mobile phone and called the girl to come out of the house. They then took turns to rape the girl in front of her lover, said Khondkar Imam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Singair Police Station.

The boy later informed his brother and also sought help from police by calling its helpline number 999. The law enforcers then rescued them this morning, the official said.

A case has been filed in this connection with the police station.

OC Imam, also the investigation officer of the case, also said that five of those accused in the case have been arrested.

The victim has been sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital for medical test, he added.
