College girl’s body found in Satkhira
Police recovered the body of a college girl from a paddy field in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira this morning.
The deceased was identified as Mariam Khatun, 25, daughter of Abdul Kader of Badaghata village in the upazila. She was a first-year honours student at Government Mohsin College in the upazila, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting police.
According to police and locals, Mariam she went out of her house to respond to the call of nature after having dinner around 8:30pm last night. As she did not return for a long time, her family members began looking for her but could not find her.
Victim’s father lodged a general diary with Shyamnagar Police Station last night in this connection, said Md Nazmul Huda, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Later, police officials recovered the body from a paddy field in nearby Ballavpur village around 8:00am today after being informed by the locals, the OC also said.
Local Union Parishad member Nargis Akhter alleged that the girl was raped before she was murdered.
Whether the victim was raped before murder will be confirmed after autopsy, OC Nazmul Huda said.
