A fisherman died as a boat capsized in the River Meghna at Thengarchar in Hatia upazila of the district early yesterday. The deceased is Md Kamal Uddin, 25, son of Md Zafar Ullah of Purba Char Majid village in Subarnachar upazila. Karim Bepari, owner of the boat, said Kamal had been working in his boat for the last five years. Around 2:00am, Kamal along with 11 other fishermen went to the river to catch fish. When they were fishing in the river, the boat sank. Kamal went missing while others managed to swim ashore. In the morning, locals rescued the body from the river.
