Sadar Model Police yesterday arrested five members of a fraud gang on charge of demanding illegal toll, trapping different male people of the town.

The arrestees are Sima Begum, 35, of Chunaripara, Bithi Begum, 21, of Masjidpara, Mitu, 28, and Bithi Akhter, 22, of Railbagan, and Md Milon, 27, of Prantikpara area of the town.

Police said the gang allegedly made relations trapping different males over mobile phones and took photos and videos of their secret meetings.

The gang later realised money from the trapped victims by threatening them to circulate the video clips on the internet, said Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station.

Following a complaint lodged by one Jahir Uddin with the police station on October 22, police raided different areas of the town in the morning and detained the five.
