A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide at Serali Madonpur village in Monirampur upazila of Jessore district early yesterday. The dead is Musfika Khatun Akhi, 15, daughter of Mustafizur Rahman of the village. Family sources said Akhi cut off vein of her hands with sharp blade at midnight. She was rushed to the upazila health complex where on-duty doctors declared her dead. The reason behind the suicide could not be known immediately, said police.
