Korea to give $700,000 for Rohingya camps, host communities
The Republic of Korea will provide the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) with $700,000 US dollars for its activities in the Rohingya camps and host communities in Cox's Bazar.
The Korean embassy in a media statement today said the country has been working closely with the international community in addressing the Rohingya crisis since 2017.
It has particularly been supporting IFRC's Emergency Appeal and Emergency Plan of Action for Population Movement Operation in Cox's Bazar.
"This year again, the Republic of Korea will provide IFRC with 700,000 US dollars for its activities in Cox's Bazar."
Korea has collaborated with IFRC to address other humanitarian challenges, especially disaster reduction, in Bangladesh.
Through KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), the country has implemented two multi-year collaboration projects with IFRC (Bangladesh office) on the "Integrated Flood Resilience Program through Community Based Disaster Reduction" in Bangladesh by contributing two million US dollars from 2015 to 2020.
