Kushtia man, stabbed for protesting stalking, dies
A man, who was stabbed in Kushtia's Bheramara for protesting the stalking of his granddaughter, has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital today.
Mizanur Rahman died undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, our Kushtia correspondent reports quoting police.
He and his elder brother Mojibor Rahman, a retired primary school headmaster, were attacked last Monday because they stood up against stalkers of their grand-daughter. Mojibor was killed in the attack.
According to police, one Ariful Islam stalked Mojibor's granddaughter, a class VIII student of a school in Bheramara. They tried but failed to stop the stalker.
Mojibor filed a written allegation to upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) against the stalker on last Sunday. This was angered the stalker.
A group of seven to eight criminals swooped on Mizanur and Mojibor soon after they came out of a local mosque around 8:45pm on Monday.
Police are yet to arrest any of the killers involved into the incident. Nur Islam Khondkar, officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station, said seven to eight friends and relatives of stalker Ariful took part in the attack.
Meanwhile, students and teachers of different school and colleges in Bheramara upazila today formed a human chain in protest of the killing. Mass people merged in the event to protest the gruesome killing.
