Mauja headman murdered in Rangamati
The bullet-hit body of the headman of a mauja was found in Rangamati’s Rasathali upazila this morning, hours after his abduction.
Dipomoy Talukder, 45, the headman of Gilachari mauja, was the former chairman of Gainda Union Parishad in the upazila, reports our correspondent from Rangamati.
He was also the vice president of Rajasthali upazila BNP unit, Saiful Islam Panir, organising secretary of Rangamati District BNP, confirmed to The Daily Star.
The body of the headman was recovered from Zeromile area in the upazila in the morning, said Omar Faruque, officer-in-charge (OC- investigation) of Rajasthali Police Station.
“We are yet to identify the killers but investigation is going on in this regard,” he said.
Dipomoy was allegedly abducted by a group of arms miscreants last evening from Zeromile area, locals said.
BNP leader Saiful Islam demanded exemplary punishment to the killers.
