Mentally challenged girl raped in Manikganj

A mentally challenged teenage girl has reportedly been raped at Singair upazila in Manikganj.

Khandakar Imam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Singair Police Station, said the victim’s father filed a case with the police station on Monday in this connection where he stated that one Al-Amin Dewan, 25, raped his mentally challenged daughter on Sunday.

Law enforcers were carrying out a drive to arrest Al-Amin, a resident of Maddhya-Dhalla village of the upazila, the OC told our Manikganj correspondent.

The victim’s mother alleged that her daughter aged around 13-year was violated by Al-Amin’s father Rafiz Uddin Dewan a month ago. “We did not file any case at that time in the face of pressure by a section of local people, but this time, we are forced to do so,” the victim’s mother said.

Victim’s medical test was performed at Manikganj Sadar Hospital today, said Lutfor Rahman, a residential medical officer of the hospital.

Earlier on Friday night, a college girl was raped by a gang in the same upazila. 

On Saturday, police rescued the college student from the gang, three of whom allegedly raped her while some others filmed the act.

Five of the suspects, including the three alleged rapists, have been arrested while the rest two accused managed to flee, police said.
