Most teachers visiting ministry come for transfer to Dhaka: Nahid
Criticising the government college teachers for lobbying to get transferred to Dhaka, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said almost 80 percent of them, who visit his ministry, come with such requests.
The teachers bring recommendations from local level political leaders and ministry officials for the transfer, Nahid said at a programme at International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka.
Negative impression will be created against those who lobby for transfer this way, Nahid said.
The minister said he recently went to a college outside Dhaka and found only seven teachers working against total 35 posts.
"There are more teachers than the posts in Dhaka, so what should we do? Close all the colleges out of Dhaka?" the minister exclaimed.
There are 3,474 posts vacant in colleges across the country, he added.
