A human chain was formed beside Lalmonirhat-Burimari Highway at Mission Intersection in Lalmonirhat town yesterday, demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of easy-bike driver Rubel Islam.

Locals and easy-bike owners and drivers joined the programme for two hours from 10:00am

Rubel Islam, 18, son of Saidul Islam of Kashipur village in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila, was hacked to death by unidentified criminals in Hala Batertal area in the upazila on Monday night. The gang dumped the body under a culvert in the area and took away the battery-driven vehicle.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body on Tuesday morning and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Saidul Islam lodged a case with Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station the same day. Police could not arrest any of the gang members and recover the easy-bike as of yesterday.
