Narayanganj’s Araihazar OC withdrawn

The officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station has been withdrawn, what sources have said is related to negligence over recording a rape case.

Superintendent of Police in Narayanganj Harun-Ur-Rashid withdrew OC Akter Hossain and attached him to Masdair police lines, our local correspondent reports.

Mohammad Monirul Islam, additional superintendent of police in the district, has confirmed the withdrawal but denied to state any specific reason for the withdrawal.

“He was not withdrawn for any specific allegation rather the withdrawal was an administrative proceeding,” he said in response to further query over the issue.

Police sources said, the OC did not take prompt action after a housewife lodged a rape complaint on May 15. He also did not lodge a case in this regard.
