Accused in Nusrat murder, Umme Sultana Poppy has given confessional statement before a magistrate in the sensational killing case.

Poppy confessed to have called Nusrat to the rooftop moments before she was set ablaze, Md Moinuddin, an additional superintendent of police of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), said.

She also confessed to be involved with the direct act of setting Nusrat afire, a correspondent from Feni reports quoting the police officer of PBI – the agency investigating the murder.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shoraf Uddin Ahmed recorded her confessional statement for five hours from 4:00pm, the police official said.

The court also placed another accused, Javed Hossain alias Sakhawat Hossain Javed, on a three-day remand after the investigators produced him and sought him in for questioning.

Earlier, a Feni court on April 11 placed Umme Sultana Poppy on five-day remand after she was picked up from her home on April 9.

A group of five people poured kerosene on the 18-year-old girl and set her afire allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case against the principal of the madrasa over sexual assault on her late last month.
