Parliament, cabinet shower Tigers with praise

After the victory, a photo showing the Bangladesh team members holding new bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman was posted on Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s page.

Parliament and the cabinet today showered the Bangladesh cricket team with praise and glory for its Sunday's historic series win over India.

At the very beginning of today's parliament sitting, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury hailed the cricket team amid thumping of desks by the treasury, opposition and independent lawmakers.

Later taking part in an unscheduled discussion, independent lawmaker Haji Salim said the whole world was now feeling the strength of Bangladesh cricket team.

"Our bad days are over. We have now stepped into good days. Our leader (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina) is very much fortunate as our cricket team has been the champion in her tenure," Salim, also joint general-secretary of Awami League, Dhaka City Unit, said.

AL lawmaker Fazilatunnesa Bappy said, "There was a conspiracy against us in the World Cup-2015 quarterfinals; our Tigers have given a fitting reply to it. Our golden boys shattered the Indian team yesterday," she said amid clapping and thumping of desks by the lawmakers.

Another AL lawmaker Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh also took part in the discussion.

The cabinet in its meeting also thanked and congratulated the Bangladesh cricket team for their outstanding performances.
