Rain adds woe to cold-hit people
Light rain coupled with cold wave disrupted normal life in different parts of the country today.
Rain is expected in different parts of the country in the afternoon and night, said Md Aftab Uddin, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
According to Met office, light rain or drizzle is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barisal, Dhaka, Mymensingh & Rajshahi divisions.
The rain might stop after midnight, Aftab told The Daily Star this morning.
People from all walks of life specially the lower-income group in the northern region have been immensely suffering for the last few days as a cold wave is sweeping over the country.
The temperature across the country might fall further later in the day, thanks to the rain.
The lowest temperature was recorded at 9.2 degrees Celsius in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh today.
Though the temperature has risen from yesterday’s 5.7 degrees Celsius recorded at the same place, the drizzle along with the mild to moderate cold wave added sufferings to the people, especially of the elderly and lower-income groups.
Meanwhile, many districts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions experienced a moderate level of rain this morning.
The highest rainfall was recorded at 14mm in Jashore while it was at 5mm in Dhaka, the meteorologist said.
