Ramadan begins tomorrow
Holy Ramadan, the month of self-purification through fasting and abstinence, begins tomorrow as the new moon was sighted in the country today.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee this evening after reviewing reports on moon sighting for the month of Ramadan, 1437 Hijri.
The first reports of moon sighting came from Dhaka, Chittagong and Feni, said Shaila Sharmin, public relations officer of Islamic Foundation.
Religious Affairs Minister and Chairman of the committee Motiur Rahman presided over the meeting held at the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office in the capital.
