Wife killed brutally ‘by husband’ in Munshiganj

A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband in a brutal manner at Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshganj early today.

The deceased was identified as Shahinur Begum, 55, wife of one Md Mominul, our local correspondent reports.

Victim’s brother Sultan Mia alleged, Mominul used to torture Shahinur regularly since their marriage 38 years ago.

“Last night, he beat her up brutally and chopped off her tongue. He fled and left my sister to die,” he told The Daily Star.

Family members recovered Shahinur this morning. She succumbed to her injuries on the way the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Md Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Shekharnagar Police Investigation Centre under Sirajdikhan Police Station, has confirmed the death.

The body has been kept at Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
