Woman ‘gang-raped’ in Feni
A woman was “gang-raped” allegedly by three men at a village in Sonagazi upazila of Feni last night.
Police arrested an alleged rapist, Noor Alam, 35, this afternoon following a complaint filed by the victim with Sonagazi Model Police Station, reports a Feni correspondent quoting police.
Later, the victim filed a case against three people including Noor with the police station this evening, said Kamal Hossain, inspector (investigation) of the police station.
Two other accused Appel and Mosharaf Hossain went into hiding after the incident, the police official said.
The incident happened barely seven days after the death of Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi who was set afire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case against her madrasa principal over sexual assault in the same upazila.
Inspector Kamal Hossain today said the three youths –Noor, Appel and Moshraf-- took the woman, wife of an expatriate and mother of two children, to a place nearby the victim’s house when she went out of the house to respond a natural call last night.
The trio raped her and fled the scene. Later, the family members rescued her in unconscious state.
The victim narrated the rape incident to the family after he regained consciousness, said the police official.
Shymol Chandra Das, an inspector of the police station, said arrestee, during a primary interrogation, confessed that he along with two others raped the housewife.
