Youth shot by BSF in Panchagarh
A Bangladeshi youth was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near Kakpara Moynaguri border in Panchagarh Sadar upazila yesterday.
The victim is Md Delwar Hossain, 30, son of Yusuf Ali of Satmera Khekipara village under the upazila.
Quoting the victim, Lt Colonel Al Hakim Mohammad Nawshad, commanding officer (CO) of BGB 18 Battalion, told this correspondent over cellphone that members of Barmanbosti BSF Camp of 109 BSF Battalion opened fire on Delwar Hossain when he went to his farmland near Pillar No 422/43-S at around 1:00pm. He was shot in his left leg.
Delwar was admitted to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
BGB strongly protested the incident and asked its Indian counterpart to hold a flag meeting. Responding to the call, BSF officials attended a flag meeting that was going on as of filing of this report at 5:35pm.
