Nizamuddin new navy chief

The government today appointed Rear Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed as new chief of the naval staff.

The appointment will come into effect from 27 January afternoon when he would be promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and incumbent Navy Chief Admiral Farid Habib will go on retirement.

Ahmed will continue office for three years from the date of his appointment, said a gazette notification by the ministry of defense.

The government recently uplifted the rank of vice admiral to admiral and air marshal to air chief marshal to make it equal to the rank of general in Bangladesh Army.
