‘No more than 30% increase in school fees’

The tuition fees of the students in non-government schools, colleges, madrasas and vocational institutions cannot be increased by more than thirty percent in any circumstances, said an education ministry circular today.

Moreover, no extra establishment cost, explained in the rules of procedures as session charges and development fees, cannot be charged from the students, the release said.

Many non-government educational institutions increased the tuition fees of their students in the name of increasing salary of non-MPO listed teachers after a new national pay scale for them was announced in December 2015.

Some of those educational institutions increased tuition fees by 100 percent. The education ministry then ordered to stop this hike in tuition fees after parents and guardians of the students of these institutions protested against it.
