‘Nothing to do on Qawmi madrasas’
There is very little that can be done against Qawmi madrasas since they are not financially controlled by the government, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said today.
In view of the issue of militancy in Bangladesh, the minister dubbed these Qawmi madrasas “terribly dangerous” and all the while voiced his concern over the subject.
“The education system in these madrasas are similar to those of regular schools. Almost the same things are taught in the schools and madrasas,” he said.
The minister was speaking in a meeting with non-government organisations (NGO) in the second pre-budget meeting at NEC auditorium in the capital.
Regarding the budget itself, Muhith reiterated that its size would be near about Tk 3 lakh crore but did not disclose any specifics.
