A court in Feni today fixed October 24 for delivering its verdict in Nusrat murder case.

The Judge Mamunur Rashed of Women and Child Repression Prevention Court fixed the date this afternoon, reports a correspondent from Feni.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set ablaze on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the principal for sexually harassing her.

The 18-year-old girl was tied up and set afire on the roof of the madrasa's administration building before she could sit for the Alim exam equivalent to HSC on April 6.

Nusrat lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after the incident.

Today, the court announced the date after hearing the argument from state and defense councils, said Public Prosecutor Hafiz Ahmed.

Twelve of the total 16 charge-sheeted accused gave confessional statements under section 164. Besides, the court recorded statements of 87 witnesses, the lawyer said.
